Zeena helps OC mom improve bottom line

May 30th, 2008, 6:36 am · 7 Comments · posted by Jenny Angelici, Contributing Writer

I am the luckiest OC blogging mom in the world. Would you believe that Zeena Warrior Fitness has swooped in to be my “blogger’s butt” savior?  Zeena, who has her own blog, is an incredible source of fitness information and inspiration. And now, she has graciously offered to help me shape up. This my friends, is going to be a fabulous 8-week journey and I’m inviting you to join me.zeena.jpg

Aside from pure vanity and losing 7 pounds, my overall goal is to improve my fitness lifestyle. Being a mom, I really want to be a good healthy role model and hopefully keep up with my boys -  if that’s possible!

Of course before we could get started, Zeena needed to know exactly what she was dealing with and had me answer the questions listed below. What fun would this process be without all the gory details? I’m talking weight and measurements! There is even a before picture, but you’re going to have to click over to Zeena’s blog to see it.

1. What is your exercise history?  What are you doing right now for activity?

In the 80’s I was really into aerobics, check out these abs. Oh jeez that was 20 years ago. In the past I have been moderately active, with lots of walking and sporadically working-out and running.

Right now, just chasing my two boys (ages 4 and 5) around is my only real physical activity. Does that count?

2. Would you be willing to keep a 7 day food journal to take a look at what you are eating?

Sure thing. Do I have to include all food I eat off my kids’ plates?

3. How old are you (approx) and do you have any medical issues/ injuries?

It kind of hurts to say it, but I’m 47 years old. I bet you are thinking “middle-age spread.” Medically speaking, I’m healthy and have my doctor’s approval for regular exercise. My eyes are going though - do you have any exercise for them? Oh, and I’m starting to notice those dreaded “soccer mom arms.”

4. How much time do you have a day to exercise?

Since I’m a stay-at-home mom, I really do have plenty of time to exercise. My only excuse is that my boys go to preschool on different days, so I’m never really alone. If I leave the house, I’m dragging an extra 40 or 50 pounds with me. Hey, maybe that’s a good thing.

5. Current weight and measurements?

Height  5’6”
Weight 127 lbs
Chest 35” (with wonderbra – don’t even ask without)
Waist 28”
Hips 39”
Thighs left-22”/right-23”
Arms 10” each

Check back here next Friday to see what Zeena has planned for me. I’m willing to bet she’ll have a lot of good fitness tips that all of us moms can use.

Hey Zeena looking to take on a REAL challenge??? :)…..Jenny you are going to do great- and I am sure you will enjoy the process. • Roxanne Hack says:

Seriously, I’d give anything for those measurements (pre- or post-pregnancy)!!

    You’ll do fabulous. Good luck!!

  • J-Bunny says:

Girlfriend – Why do it the hard way? I had the same problem and my doctor took care of it in 2 hours - it’s called liposuction. I didn’t even have to break a sweat!

  • Erika says:

    I’m 5 foot 6, too, but I haven’t weighed 127 since I was 12 years old. :-)

Good luck Jenny! You seem to have a great and sunny attitude, but I know you’ll do great!

  • Jenny Angelici says:

Wow, thanks everyone for all the kind words. I was little nervous putting my butt out there for all to see…but what the heck - I love a good challenge.

  • Suzanne Broughton says:

Jenny! You are beautiful and look fit to me. Good luck. I think you are awesome to share your experience with us.

  • Zeena says:

Hey Guys! I totally agree that Jenny’s measurements are fantastic!

More importantly however is how she feels. Regardless of the numbers, exercise and nutrition are important for long term health. For every pound you gain, you increase your chances of a host of disease. So together our goals are to get her focused on these issues, and in the mean time hopefully drop a few lbs. I promise she will FEEL better- and is the best prize of all.

I hope you all stay tuned on here journey and maybe join us! The tips are not just for her alone. You are welcome to start the plan right long with her!

I also think it will be an interesting look into how “online” fitness coaching works.
