Opportunity for budding young artists

Do you have a little Picasso yearning to leave his or her mark on the artistic world? How about a Dalí? Maybe even a Van Gogh or a tiny Rembrandt?

Nordstrom is giving young artists an opportunity to display their talents by painting a sea life-themed tile for their new Fashion Island store set to open in April next year.  There are 200 tiles available for children to paint, and all will be permanently installed on the Kids Wear floor for all to see.

The decorating party will be held at the Island Hotel Newport Beach on  July 25, with painting sessions lasting from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For those budding painters less experienced with the paint-on-tile medium, a professional artist will be on hand to assist the kids.

Light refreshments will be served, and a small gift will be given to commemorate the experience. Children must be between the ages of 4-12, and accompanied by an adult. The cost per child is $40, with proceeds going to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Spots are limited.

For more information or to reserve your spot in the festivities, call CHOC at 714-532-7676 or e-mail them at zmoonitz@choc.org.

The Island Hotel Newport Beach is located at 690 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach. The tile-decorating party will be held in the Cabrillo room. Complimentary valet parking is available for event attendees.
