I’m a big believer in things happening for a purpose. So today on my way to work, I paid special attention to the digital sign along the freeway that Giant RV uses to let passers-by know about the joys of road trips.
But they also use that sign as a billboard for messages about life. Like the one that caught my eye — and soul — today: “Joy is not out there. It’s inside you.”
That’s so true, isn’t it? It made me smile, and reflect on what I had to be joyful about that very minute.
The Dodgers had a great season despite losing in the championship series. Same for the Angels. And it’s only about 100 more days before pitchers and catchers report again. (They were on my mind because I just read another story about the nasty rift between Dodger owners Frank and Jamie McCourt. It’s a joy not to be them.)There’s more, but I don’t want to go on and on. I’ll bet you’ve got your own joy inside that you might be smiling about right now. So I’ll get out of the way and let you do it. And feel free to share.
Happy Friday.

I saw an adorable little black and white kitten on my walk this morning. What a joy!
Kittens always make me smile. Puppies, too.
My morning cup of coffee and watching my boys admire themselves in their black long-sleeved skeleton shirts. I never thought t-shirts could bring so much joy.
It’s the simple things in life that really matter, isn’t it?
This year my 5 year old daughter with Autism is actually excited about Halloween. Her language has progressed enough to be able to hold a few word sentences but today I overheard her saying “tick-o-tweet” while watching Dora. That was my joy for the day. She is a fighter! I’m proud of her. 30 hours a week of therapy since she was 2 is paying off.
Happy Halloween to you and your daughter. Small steps lead to big destinations.
All reasons to be joyful for sure! Great post
It is the little things, isn’t it?
