Mrs. Claus banned from Christmas parade

And, gee, we wonder why our kids are screwed up.
The Greater Raleigh Merchants Association in Raleigh, North Carolina has banned Mrs. Claus from marching in their annual Christmas parade today, saying her costume is too much like that of Santa Claus, the man himself.
Apparently, they are under the impression that kids will be confused, unable to tell which one is the REAL Santa, the man in the white beard and pants, or the woman in the long red dress with no beard.
If this is a problem for people in North Carolina, historically the home of cigarette manufacturer Philip Morris USA, then maybe they’ve been smoking too much. And I don’t mean tobacco.
Is this gender discrimination? Maybe Mrs. Claus has a federal lawsuit here.
Meanwhile, can’t help wondering what these people are thinking.
Some people suspect it’s political, involving the fact that the woman who plays Mrs. Claus was recently elected to the school board. Others disagree.
And, yes, Virginia, there is a Mrs. Claus, even if she’s not marching in the parade.

This is the silliest thing that I have ever read. That is why she is Mrs. Claus. Can’t they find anything better to ban.
Where did you come up with NC as a historical base for P.M. ? Virginia is far more accurate. And, since you’re writing for an OC paper. you should have mentioned that PM bought the Mission Viejo Co. in 1972.
As far as Mrs. Claus is considered, who cares. The PC clowns killed her husband; alas, she is no longer relevant.

Why are you assuming some “liberals” banned Mrs. Claus? That’s ridiculous. Do you really think a “liberal” would be running the merchant’s association in a town like Raleigh, North Carolina? North Carolina is the state that kept Jesse Helms in the Senate for 20 years. And North Carolina has been growing tobacco as an important cash crop since 1663 and until recently had a huge Philip Morris cigarette manufacturing plant there, until it was closed and all cancer stick operations consolidated in Virginia, hopefully because people are smoking less.
Just out of curiosity do you know when Mrs Claus became a part of the Santa Claus story? I don’t recall any historical references to her. It’s all Pere Noel, Sinter Claus, St Nicholas, etc., singular.
The fairies won’t be banned..they are a PC protected class.

I guess we do not need a Mrs.Claus since our own President is not having a Christmas tree this year , but a Holiday tree, with NO ornaments with anything on them that resembles Christ or anything religous. Our real reason for christmas. Maybe a picture of Allah would do better on his tree.
Allah has nothing to do with Christmas either; that just shows your prejudice. It’s clearly a strict interpretation of separation of church and state. Considering that the “real reason for Christmas” was an assimilation of Saturnalia and other pagan holidays at the winter solstice into the Christian religion, maybe it is appropriate that NO religious symbols be on the tree.

Mrs. Claus should be strictly background with mouth closed at all times. Except when responding to commands given by Santa for more milk / cookies etc.

Were you planning on wearing a long white beard? Is that why parade organizers thought kids would be confused between Mr. and Mrs. Claus? Is Mrs. Claus suffering from Hirsutism these days?
I’m in Virginia, and let me assure you that the “cancer stick operations” moved from Virginia to NYC some time ago. Phillip-Morris diversified by buying Kraft so now they are clogging our arteries and building our bellies, which does not seem like much of an improvement !
As for Mrs. Santa, how ridiculous ! If she can get the time away from the North Pole at this time of year, and is willing, I think we should greet her with open arms !

Jesus didn’t have a Christmas tree, nor any ornaments with his name on them or crosses or anything remotely religious. I am so tired of hearing religion used as an excuse to bash any branch of the government (separation of church and state - look it up). This country was founded on the principle of FREEDOM OF RELIGION, and not all people believe in Jesus Christ. If you want the “Christ” back in Christmas then get rid of the trees and the lights and the mistletoe and the presents…Jesus had nothing to do with any of that.
More to the point of the story, I have yet to meet a child who can’t tell that the person with a beard is the man, regardless of the “suit” he’s wearing. What’s the REAL reason she was banned?!
