We’ll be sitting on stage at Xanadu

November 23rd, 2009, 5:22 am · 2 Comments · posted by Marla Jo Fisher, Staff Writer

So I called today and got on-stage tickets to Xanadu, the musical that’s going to be at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa next month.

Yes, you remember correctly, that’s the silly movie from the ’80s with Olivia Newton-John. If you were around back then, you can probably sing the hit song, right?

They made it into a Broadway show, (I know, I know, it’s hard to believe) and the touring company is coming to the Orange County Performing Arts Center Dec. 15 through the 27th.

Turns out, this family-friendly show about roller skating actually has seats right on-stage for every performance.

The on-stage tickets cost $25.  Regular tickets start at $20, for the top balcony.

xanaduI saw some video reviews of kids raving about how much fun it was to sit on stage, so I thought it would be a one-of-a-kind thrill.

Let’s face it, when will I ever be on stage again at the Orange County Performing Arts Center? If you’d ever seen my one and only performance in drama class at Clearfield High School, you would certainly say “NEVER.”

I got the info about the stage seats on Facebook, so I called up and ordered some tickets for one of the shows. You can only buy two on-stage tickets, so I’ll bring Curly Girl and leave Cheetah Boy at home to do whatever 12-year-old boys do when they get to be in the house alone for a couple of hours.

I don’t really want to think too hard about it.

If you want to try to get on-stage tickets yourself, you need to phone 714-556-2787 and tell the ticket seller “Promo code 10734″

If they don’t have any on-stage tickets, you can also get free kids’ tickets to certain performances, if you buy an adult ticket.

And maybe I’ll see you there!

UPDATE: You know, it just occurred to me maybe we can pack the stage with Frumpy Mom fans! We are going to the 1 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Dec. 20th. Why don’t you call up and see if you can get tickets then too? Don’t delay though, they’ll go fast.
